Hemionitis 'Heart' Fern
Hemionitis arifolia, also known as Heart Fern, is a delicate dwarf-like evergreen fern that is native to India to Southern China and Western to Central Malesia, Hainan, and Southern Taiwan. With that in mind, Heart Fern thrives in wet tropical climates.
It has dimorphic leaves—which means some of the leaves are sterile and some are fertile. The sterile fronds are shiny, leathery, deep green, and heart-shaped. The fertile fronds are arrow-shaped with thick stalks, and appear above the foliage. This delicate plant will remain relatively small and grows from 6 to 10 inches tall and equally as wide. The best way to propagate this plant is by division. It has a rhizomatous root system and upright habit.
