Meeting Green offers a design-first approach with practical application to bring urban greenspaces and microclimates to life for our residential and commercial clients across the lowcountry.
Based in the heart of Charleston, our work ranges from helping budding gardeners pick out their first Fiddle-Leaf Fig and put together a front-porch planter to designing distinct interior plantscapes for downtown restaurant groups and executing significant landscape/hardscape installations for local homeowners.
We’ve delivered fresh ferns for a backyard soiree following a full interiorscape outfitting for a new boutique hotel - regardless of project scale, we are here to help our clients fall in love with foliage and feel empowered to create, nurture and enjoy their unique greenspace.
At Meeting Green, we are on a mission to leave the world a little greener than we found it with a bespoke retail and design firm synonymous with sustainability, trust and imagination.
Co-founded by business and life partners Kendal Leonard and Sam Metzger in 2018, Meeting Green came to be after the pair realized a lack of plant accessibility in downtown Charleson coupled with a growing interest in enhancing urban environments.
Harboring a love for foliage and flowers since childhood, Kendal originally pursued a creative career in textile and product design to include making sustainable, upcycled wedding and evening gowns through Kendal Leonard Designs. Her love for pretty things, textures and detail blossomed into her vision for Meeting Green, a downtown oasis and plantscape design firm that would combine creative plant potential and dynamic selections with pragmatic solutions.
What started as his summer job in highschool, Sam pursued landscaping full-time after earning his BA in Business from the College of Charleston. Following a stint as a sod-specialist making sure the grass was greenest for golf courses across Hilton Head, Sam brought his installation expertise, project management experience, and love for secret gardens to Meeting Green.
Three years, countless container gardens, and a growing team later, the duo approach each and every space from a design perspective first before focusing on practical function and realistic execution. Priding themselves on refreshingly honest recommendations, success comes from inspiring green thumbs with what will survive and thrive over time.
When they aren’t perfecting planters, laying garden paths and educating new plant-parents, you may find Kendal and Sam hanging out downtown with their two furbabies, who also moonlight as the official garden shop greeter.
