more than a

About Meeting Green

At Meeting Green, we combine a design-driven mindset with real-world plant knowledge to help you create an oasis in your unique Lowcountry garden.

It’s about finding the right fit for a first-time plant parent. Making a cafe sidewalk somewhere you want to be. Giving a forum for seasoned gardeners to share their knowledge. Or helping a family make their backyard truly feel their own.

No matter the size of your vision or your role in the process, our goal remains the same: to inspire connection through plants, share our knowledge, and help you grow something you love.

Founding Meeting Green

Founded in 2018 by Kendal Leonard and Sam Metzger, Meeting Green began with a shared vision to bring accessible, thoughtful plant design to downtown Charleston. What started as a spark of inspiration has since blossomed into a full-service garden center and design studio—rooted in creativity, expertise, and a deep love for gardens that truly thrive.

Kendal’s background in fashion and textile product design helped shape Meeting Green’s considered, layered aesthetic. Her eye for texture, form, and trends has shaped the way our garden center has come to life—unique, approachable, and always intentional.

After earning his B.A. in Business from the College of Charleston, Sam pursued a full-time career in landscaping. He brings to Meeting Green a strong foundation in installation, project management, and a passion for creating “secret garden” spaces.

Together, they lead with design and follow form with function, balancing inspiration with honest guidance. Their goal is to help people create green spaces that reflect their lives; spaces designed to work with Charleston’s uniqueness and to grow beautifully over time.
