Plant in a well-draining potting mix and allow the plants to dry between waterings but not severely.
Instead of following a strict schedule, check the soil with your finger before watering. In the spring and summer (active growth), water when the top 1 inch of soil is dry. In the fall and winter (dormant), allow the top 2 inches to dry out.
Water slowly and deeply until water begins to drain from the bottom of the pot. Discard any excess water from the plant saucer after 30 minutes to prevent the roots from sitting in soggy soil.
Sensitive to fluoride, be sure to use a filtered water system or its leaves will yellow.
