
Nephrolepis 'Macho' Fern
Nephrolepis biserrata, also known as Macho Fern or Giant Sword Fern, is a tropical herbaceous perennial in the polypody family (Polypodiaceae). It is native to the Americas, Africa and Southeast Asia. It is called 'Macho' Fern because it is the largest of the fern varieties. This fern does very well in containers and hanging baskets, or as a woodland border.

This plant requires consistently moist soil, typically needing water when the top 0.5 to 1 inch of soil feels dry. During hot summer months, they may require daily watering to stay hydrated. They are intolerant of draught, but they should never sit in waterlogged soil to avoid root rot.
This plant prefers slightly acidic soil, we suggest Espoma Soil Acidifier.
