Miscanthus 'Silvergrass': Adagio

Miscanthus sinensis, also known as Chinese Silver Grass 'Adagio', is an herbaceous perennial, deciduous, ornamental grass native to Asia. It has an erect clumping habit and can be 4 to 6 ft wide at maturity and 4 to 12 ft tall with arching leaves. It is a highly flammable grass. Because of it's prolific self seeding, it can become invasive—heavy mulching will help prevent seed germenation. A large rhizomatus root mass means that, once established, it is difficult to remove. Foliage should be cut down in late winter or early spring, before or just as, new blades begin to appear.

This plant requires full sun (6+ hours) for optimal growth and blooming. It can tolerate light partial shade, but may cause the stems to get floppy and reduces flowering.

This plant needs moderate watering (2-3 times a week) when young and becomes very drought-tolerant once established. Too much standing water and it will lead to root rot.
