Angel Wing Begonia
Angel Wing Begonia is a broadleaf evergreen cultivar in the begonia family (Begoniaceae) that can grow 1 to 2.5 ft high and 1 to 2 ft wide. This hybrid is noted for its attractive leaves with silver markings on a green background and a red underside that sometimes shines through the leaves. It produces blossoms that are pink.
Angel Wing Begonia is not frost hardy and temperatures should not drop below 50 degrees nor be higher than 86 degrees. It is often grown as a houseplant or in the garden as an annual.
This plant thrives in bright, indirect light, ideally placed near east or west-facing windows to promote intense leaf color and flowering. While they can tolerate medium light— too little light causes leggy growth. Intense, direct sunlight can scorch foliage. They need 2–4 hours of bright light daily, potentially supplemented with artificial light in winter.
If grown outside, this plant does well in bright morning light and afternoon shade.
When the top inch of soil feels dry, water thoroughly until it drains, then let it dry out slightly before the next watering to keep soil consistently moist but never soggy. Reduce water frequency during the winter season.
