Eupatorium 'Joe Pye Weed': Euphoria Ruby
Eupatorium fistulosum, also known as Joe Pye Weed (hollow stem), is a native herbaceous perennial that stands erect and is a clump-forming plant that usually grows to 4-7 ft tall. Its great height makes it a dramatic accent in the back of a garden. Give this plant plenty of room to grow and use for naturalizing in moist meadows or in native/pollinator gardens. You should cut the plants back to the ground in late winter. Divide the plants in Fall as they go dormant, or in the Spring just as shoots first appear to propagate new plants or to correct excessive clumping. This plant is moderately resistant to damage from deer and the flowers are attractive to pollinators, including bees and butterflies.

Available in 1 GalJoe Pye Weed prefers full sun to partial shade, requiring at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight daily for optimal growth, though it can tolerate some shade, especially in hot climates.
Excessive shade can lead to leggy growth and increased disease susceptibility. Intense direct sun, particularly in the afternoon, may cause yellowing leaves.
Joe Pye Weed requires consistently moist soil and can tolerate wet conditions, performing best with consistent moisture throughout the growing season. New plants need regular watering to establish roots. This plant becomes more drought-tolerant, once established, but still prefers regular watering, especially during dry spells. Using mulch to retain soil moisture is a helpful strategy for keeping the soil damp.
Your plant needs food too! We suggest Espoma Flower Tone.
