Philodendron 'Cordatum'

Philodendron Cordatum is an uncommon variety of Philodendron—featuring a heart shaped leaf, often mistaken for a Pothos. It is a trailing plant which is native to Central America and the Caribbean, and can be seen climbing up trees in the forest canopy in its natural environment. Philodendron Cordatum will grow best in well-draining and aerated soil. If the pot contains drainage holes, this plants can thrive indoors as potted plants.

This Philodendron requires bright, indirect light for about six hours daily but can also tolerate lower light conditions. Avoid direct sunlight, as it can scorch the leaves. Rotate the plant every few days to ensure even growth. 

Watering a Philodendron Cordatum involves allowing the top 1-2 inches of soil to dry out between waterings, which usually means watering every one to two weeks. Ensure the soil remains consistently moist but not waterlogged, as root rot can occur from overwatering. Water until excess water drains from the pot's bottom. 

 

Adjust watering frequency based on light conditions: water more often in bright light and less in low light.
