Nassella 'Mexican Feather Grass'

Nassella tenuissima, also known as Mexican Feather Grass is a native perennial plant to New Mexico, Texas, Mexico and Argentina. The feathery leaves are fine and sway in the wind. They are topped by spikes of silvery yellow spikelets followed by feathery-looking seed heads that have a 2-4 inch thin, light brown, terminal bristle. They are considered flammable and pose a fire hazard risk of planted in bulk and in severe drought conditions.

Mexican feather grass thrives best in full sun (6+ hours) for optimal growth.

This plant needs regular watering during its first year to build strong roots, but it requires very little water once it is established.
