  • Feijoa sellowiana, also known as Pineapple Guava, is an evergreen perennial shrub native to South America. In it's natural habitat, Pineapple Guava can grow upwards of 10 to 15ft. The leaves are a silvery-green hue, making this shrub a nice option for visual interest when not in bloom. Bloom cycle is between April and May. The shrub's habit is relatively open but becomes denser with pruning. It prefers well-drained soil, but will tolerate a range of soils from sandy to heavy clay. The edible flowers taste like marshmellows, and fruits can be eaten raw—best left on the tree to ripen. Pineapple Guava depend on at least 50-200 hours of cold winter temperatures for best fruit production.
