Dryopteris 'Autumn' Fern

Dryopteris erythrosora, also known as Autumn Fern or Japanese Shield Fern, is a small, semi-evergreen herbaceous perennial native to eastern Asia. This fern is grows an arching vase-shaped clump reaching 2 ft tall and up to 3 ft wide at it's full mature size. The fronds emerge coppery-pink and turn green as it matures. It is a low-maintenance fern that withstands full shade and is resistant to browsing rabbits. If planted in the ground, it will spread slowly over time through underground creeping rhizomes. This fern can be a container plant inside or on a patio and can also be grown in woodland and shade gardens. It can be an accent, groundcover, or mass planting.

This plant prefers dappled light to part sun/ part shade. It can even tolerate deep shade. 

This plant thrives in consistently moist soil, but never soggy. Once fully established, this plant is slightly drought tolerant.
