Citrus 'Orange': Red Navel

The Red Navel requires full sun (6+ hours) daily for optimal growth, fruit production, and development of their distinct pinkish-red flesh. They thrive in warm climates and prefer a south-facing location to maximize light exposure. 

The Red Navel requires consistent, deep watering to keep soil moist but not waterlogged. This tree generally needing 1–2 waterings per week during the growing season. Mature trees may require up to 60 inches of water annually, with higher frequency needed in hot, dry, or container conditions. 

Pruning Navel Oranges is different than other deciduous fruit trees.  Flowering and fruiting on sweet orange trees occurs on new wood and you don't want to cut flowers that are your future fruits.  It is recommended that all pruning occur after the fruit has ripened.
