Callistemon 'Weeping' Bottlebrush

Melaleuca viminalis, also known as the Callistemon Weeping Bottlebrush, is a large, multi-trunked, flowering shrub or small tree native to Australia in the myrtle family. At maturity, it can reach a height of 30 feet. Weeping Bottlebrush has pendulous branches, hard bark, and bright red bottle brush flowers that bloom from spring to summer. The flowers are arranged as a spike at the end of the branches, which continue to grow after the flowers bloom. This plant is not frost hardy and will succumb to salt spray.

This plant requires full sun (6+ hours) for optimal growth and maximum flowering. While they can tolerate partial shade, insufficient light often results in fewer blooms and slower growth. 

This plant requires consistent moisture to thrive, especially in the first year, needing weekly deep watering to establish. While drought-tolerant when mature, they prefer regular, deep irrigation every 10–14 days in summer for maximum growth, while requiring well-drained, moist soil to prevent root rot. 

Pruning is recommended after flowering to remove most of the spent flowers and encourage an attractive growth habit. We suggest Bond Drop Forged Pruner.
