Aster 'Pink Magic'

Symphyotrichum novi-belgii, also known as Aster or New York Aster, is a native, herbaceous, perennial that is found commonly growing along brackish and tidal fresh marshes. Asters can grow 3 to 5 ft high. Its low growing habit and fall bloom works well as an edging plant in the front of borders, or in rock gardens or butterfly gardens. It works well with or a substitute for chrysanthemums or "mums". Mums are typically grown as annuals in our hot Charleston climate, Asters are a nice option as they are both a perennial and a pollinator.

This plant needs full sun (6+ hours) for optimal growth. It can tolerate partial shade, but it may flower less. 

These plants like consistent moisture, but avoid soggy soil.
