Prunus 'Weeping Cherry': Snow Fountain

This tree depends on full sun for maximum, dense, spring blooming. Inadequate sun (shade) can make the tree susceptible to diseases and reduce its characteristic, cascading, fountain-like shape. We suggest situating this tree in an open area that receives bright morning sun.

When planted and establishing it's roots, water deeply 2–3 times per week during the first 6 months to encourage deep root growth.Use slow, deep soaking methods rather than light, surface-level watering. Once established, water when the top 3 inches of soil are dry. During hot, dry, or drought conditions, increase frequency to prevent leaf drop. This tree requires well-drained soil; excessive water can cause root rot.

Mulching: Apply mulch to conserve moisture, keeping it away from the trunk. Mulching: Apply 2–4 inches of mulch around the base (but not touching the trunk) to retain moisture and keep roots cool.

This tree likes moist, fertile, and well-draining soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH. To boost the pH of your soil, we suggest Espoma Soil Acidifier. 

Prune after flowering to remove dead/diseased wood or shape; avoid heavy winter cuts. Watch for shoots from below the graft union (where it's attached to the rootstock) and remove them. We suggest using the Bond Drop Forged Pruner.
