This plant cannot tolerate drying out and is considered a “thirsty” plant. Water deeply 2-3 times a week during our hot Charleston climate. Keeping the plant in moist soil (not in standing water) will promote strong and large blooms.
Adding a 2-3” layer of mulch around your hibiscus will help retain that essential soil moisture and prevent the root zone from baking.
Your plant needs food too! We recommend Espoma Plant Tone.
Proper nutrition is important to the health of your plant and its longevity. To ensure your plant is getting the appropriate nutrition, use a fertilizer labelled for this plant type and apply according to the label.
