Hibiscus 'Rose of Sharon': Blueberry Smoothie

Hibiscus syriacus 'DS03RS’, also known as a Hibiscus Blueberry Smoothie, is a deciduous flowering shrub hybrid featuring 4-5” deep purple double flowers with rich green foliage. This plant can be grown as a large shrub or small tree with an upright growing habit and fountain-like shape. It is excellent in attracting pollinators like butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees. In optimal growing conditions, this plant can reach 8-10ft tall with a width of 4-6ft wide. Hardy up to zone 9b.

This plant needs full sun (6+ hours) for optimal blooming. It can tolerate light partial shade, but blooms may be smaller and the shrub may become leggy. 

This plant needs a good soak once a day until established. If planted in the ground, this shrub will need about an inch of water weekly. If planted in a pot, this plant will need daily watering during the peak heat of our Charleston summer.
