Pennisetum 'Fountain' Grass: Rubrum Red

Cenchrus setaceus, also known as Rubrum or Purple Fountain Grass, is a mounding, clumping herbaceous grass that grows 2-4' tall. It is typically grown as an annual, but it does propagate readily through self seeding. This plant starts blooming in summer and those flowers last until frost attracting birds.

This plant requires full sun (6+ hours) to maintain the rich burgundy foliage and vibrant flower plumes. The plant tolerates light or partial shade, but too much will cause foliage to fade and prevents the feathery plumes from forming.

This plant needs regular moisture while kept as an annual, or when first planted. It becomes quite drought-tolerant once established.
