Stromanthe 'Triostar'
Stromanthe thalia, also known as Stromanthe Triostar, is a tender evergreen herbacious perennial that is native to the Brazilian rainforests. This plant is known for its beautiful foliage—reaching up to 20" long, it features oblong dark green with pink and cream variegation on the upper surface of the leaves, and burgundy on the undersides. At night the leaves fold together, standing vertically, resembling praying hands. In the spring, panicles of tiny white flowers with orangish-red bracts appear. The plant grows up to 5 ft tall and 3 ft wide when grown outdoors. Grown as a houseplant, it usually grows only 2 to 3 ft tall.

This plant prefers evenly moist soil, but never let it become soggy or waterlogged. Tap water may cause the tips and edges of the foliage to brown due to floride and chlorine sensitivities. This plant thrives in high humidity.
