
Opuntia ‘Prickly Pear’ Cactus
The Opuntia Cactus, also known as Prickly Pear Cactus, is native to the U.S., Mexico, and South America. Pads are rapidly-growing flattened stems that are oblong shaped and range in size (4 to 18 inches) depending on the species.
Please Note: Pads and fruit produced by the Opuntia are edible, however please take necessary precautions in identifying correct edible varieties as well as preparation of the pads and fruit.

Once established, prickly pear is drought and salt tolerant, has few pest or disease problems, and grows in the sandiest soils. Rich and soggy soil can lead to root rot.
We suggest Espoma Cactus Mix, or Rosy Soil Organic Cactus & Succulent Mix to grow in and Espoma Liquid Cactus Liquid Plant Food for feeding.
