Euphorbia 'Ascot Rainbow'

Euphorbia x martinii, also known as Ascot Rainbow Spurge or Martin's Spurge, is a naturally occurring hybrid subshrub from southern France. The parents of this hybrid are the wood and mediterranean spurge. This plant is a dwarf evergreen and grows 1 to 2 ft tall and equally as wide. It has strikingly beautiful foliage that appears as rosettes with flowers that are tiny and apetalous. They elongate and form dense clusters that measure 4 to 5" long. They flower in spring and into early summer. This plant can be used in flower beds, borders or in a cottage, or Mediterranean Garden. They also look lovely in a container garden—easy to care for and resilient to most insect pests and diseases.

This plant prefers full sun (6+ hours) to partial shade. In our hot Charleston climate, some light shade at the peak of the day will be beneficial. 

Water this plant deeply but infrequently. It is drought tolerant once established. 

Prune back to 6" in height in the mid-spring right after the plant flowers to promote a bushy habit. This plant does not reseed, but can be propagated by cuttings.We suggest Modern Sprout Garden Pruners.
