Echinacea 'Coneflower': Pumpkin Pie
Echinacea purpurea, also known as Coneflower, is a narrow leaf coneflower—native to central and eastern USA. It has daisy-like blossoms on a single tall stalk in early summer. It grows 3-4ft tall and bears copper-orange central cones surrounded by short, arching, ray petals in pink and orange. Grows best in well draining soil. It is tolerant of drought, heat, humidity, and poor soils. Deadheading prolongs flowering and cutting back stems will promote more flowering. Proper spacing between plants will increase air circulation between plants to keep leaves dry and help prevent the spread of diseases. This plant is a great addition to a pollinator, native, or meadow garden and will attract a variety of wildlife including birds, butterflies, and bees.

This plant thrives best in full sun (6+ hours) for optimal blooming, but can tolerate partial shade.
This plant needs about 1 inch of water per week during their first growing season. Once their deep taproots are established, they become very drought-tolerant and only need watering during long dry or hot spells.
