This plant requires bright indirect light to maintain its bright foliage colors, thriving best in partial shade or morning sun. While adaptable, it should be protected from intense, direct afternoon sun, which can burn the leaves. 

This plant requires consistently moist, well-drained soil, generally needing water 1–2 times per week. Allow the top 1–2 inches of soil to dry out between waterings to prevent root rot. They prefer high humidity and are sensitive to fluoride in tap water, which can cause brown leaf tips. Watering should be reduced during the fall to late winter.

This plant prefers high humidity and humidifier or pebble tray may be required when grown indoors. 

For better water retention, we suggest adding Canadian Peat Moss to your soil mix when planting this plant.

Fertilizing the plant several times a year will also help it to maintain its colors. We suggest Leafy Plant Food or Grow Organic Plant Food Concentrate.
