Ledebouria socialis 'Scilla Violacea', also known as a Silver Quil or Leopard Lily, is a geophyte grown for its colorful foliage. It is native to the dry savannas of the Cape Provinces of South Africa, and is a member of the asparagus family (Asparagaceae). The epithet, socialis, is a Latin reference meaning "growing in colonies" and references its habit of quickly forming dense clumping of above ground bulbs. The foliage emerges from the bulbs, and the lance-shaped leaves form a rosette. The upper surface of the leaves is silvery green with darker green leopard spots, and the undersides are purple.
