Dionaea 'Venus Fly Trap'

Venus Fly Traps require bright, direct sunlight for 6+ hours daily, or 12-16 hours under strong horticultural grow lights, though they can tolerate less. 

During dormancy, light needs are reduced to 10-12 hours a day, or none at all in cold, dark conditions. Insufficient light results in pale, elongated leaves and weak traps.

This plant requires high humidity, as well as wet, sandy, soil and sun to partial shade. Wonder why this plant is atop a cup of water? Because you should never let the soil dry out! Mimicking the boggy conditions these plants are typically found in. 

The roots on these plants are very sensitive, we do not suggest adding amendments to this plant for fear of root burn. Instead, create your own potting mix with sand, moss, and pearlite, for aeration and retaining moisture.
