Ilex 'Touch of Gold Holly'

Ilex crenata, also known as a Touch of Gold Japanese Holly, is a dwarf evergreen shrub. It is known for its variegated golden-yellow and chartreuse foliage. The new leaves emerge a bright, sunny yellow and retain their rich, variegated color throughout the year, even during the fall and winter months. It naturally forms a tight, compact, and spreading mound that reaches a mature size of only 2ft tall by 4ft wide.

This plant requires full sun (6+ hours) to partial shade, needing at least 3 to 6 hours of direct sunlight daily for optimal health and vibrancy.

Water 2-3 times a week to help it's root system establish. Once established, it develops moderate drought tolerance, but it still performs best with regular watering. Provide a deep watering once a week (or when the top 2 to 3 inches of soil feel dry).

Winter Watering: Continue providing occasional irrigation during dry winter months, especially for recently planted shrubs or if the ground is not frozen.

Because this plant naturally maintains it's tidy shape, it requires virtually no pruning.
