The weather is warming up and Charleston has seen some beautiful days in February, but it's not technically spring yet! So, what’s blooming right now? Some of our favorite late winter and early spring flowers! This time of year in Charleston is a fun time for gardeners. Blooms that are typically seen further north throughout the year are thriving in our area in late January into spring. Right now, look to these bulbs and cooler climate perennials and annuals for blooms for your baskets and porches.
Hellabore
Geraniums
Anemone
Ranunculus
Cosmos
Stock
Delphinium
Nemesia
Hyacinth
Tulips
Daffodils
Muscari

Keep in mind, you can extend the longevity of these flowers by shielding them from our intense sun! Enjoy these beautiful blooms in part sun into the spring and don't stress when they start to struggle in our Charleston heat.
Our favorite flowers for your front porch this spring: Florist or greenhouse hydrangeas! What is a florist hydrangea? A compact, mophead Hydrangea with bright blue, pink or white blooms that are forced into flowering. These work great as a showy gift or centerpiece in the Spring. Think front porches and Easter decor, not your landscaping!
