Festive Flowers for July 4th

Happy July 1st, Charleston! Summer is officially here and we are gearing up for a hot season! Today we’re here to help you get your summer containers looking fresh and festive. Whether you want drought tolerant, tough as nail foliage or bright seasonal blooms, we have something at the shop for you this month.

Independence Day or July 4th is coming up soon and we think the best way to celebrate is with a window basket and container refresh! We’ve curated a list of red, white, and blue flowers and foliage to get your creative juices flowing this holiday!

Blue flowers can be hard to find, especially during our intense summers! Consider these annual and perennial options below and keep an open mind when “blue” sometimes leans a bit purple in the botanical world!

  • Blue daze

  • Plumbago

  • Hydrangea

  • Agapanthus or Lily of the Nile

  • Salvia

White flowers are much easier to find and some of our favorites right now are even tolerant of Charleston heat!

  • Vinca

  • Penta

  • Echinacea (Coneflower)

  • Allium

  • Lantana

  • Yarrow

As far as red blooms go, we have a few options in stock but recommend adding red foliage for textured interest!

  • Mandevilla

  • Canna Lily

  • Penta

  • Coleus

  • Various Sedum

  • Caladium

Ready to design your own festive flower box? Come shop with us this week and get ready for a weekend full of celebrating!
