It's finally fall in Charleston! We made it through the summer heat and can't wait to celebrate the autumn season with everyone. To mark the first day of fall, we're talking about refreshing your seasonal containers! Whether you have window baskets overflowing with color and texture every season or pots scattered around your space, use these tips when updating your containers this fall.
Incorporate funky foliage for fall color! We love the classic look that mums and other fall flowers bring to a space, but we're also big fans and textured, colorful leaves doing a lot of the heavy lifting in a fall arrangement. Wether you add feathery grass or dark purple coral bells, foliage with lots of personality makes an arrangement feel more like fall.
Utilize evergreens that last through the winter! Gardening with annuals can be intimidating this time of year as the temperature starts to drop. If you don't have big holiday plans for your container gardens, you may want to focus on plants that will make it through the winter season too. We often add evergreen thrillers like boxwood or this small tea olive so that there is interest in your container through the winter.
Ornamental kale and cabbage is your best friend! A fall container doesn't feel complete without a classic ornamental kale or cabbage. These fun plants are a perfect filler, taking up lots of space with funky texture and a classic autumnal look. If you're struggling to fill your fall container, this is what you're missing!
